Strategic Hiring Initiative

Oct 20, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

I am excited to announce, as part of our ongoing enrollment recovery efforts, the District is launching a $2 million strategic faculty hiring initiative.  Under this initiative, we are in the midst of releasing ten (10) temporary full-time instructional faculty positions and six (6) full-time tenure-track instructional faculty positions.  These sixteen (16) full-time faculty positions represent a significant investment in our faculty and our students who will benefit from greater access to high demand courses.

These instructional positions are in addition to the soon-to-be released classified positions to support the total cost of ownership and operation of our new facilities.  While there continues to be concerns regarding the "next" state fiscal downturn and we continue to monitor the economic environment, we also remain committed to increasing educational opportunities and access for our students by employing more full-time faculty, especially in high demand courses.

It is our sincere hope that our talented and dedicated adjunct faculty will apply for these positions as they are being advertised this week.

Additionally, the following positions have been approved to move forward:

Clovis Community College:

  • Director of Basic Needs Support (grant funded)
  • Counselor, Black Student Success (repurposing a previously funded faculty position that was never filled)
  • Instructional Administrative Assistant (SWF funded)
  • Office Assistant I (two part-time positions) (6-month limited term)

Fresno City College:

  • Counselor, EOPS (Categorically Funded)
  • Office Specialist (6-month limited term)
  • Office Assistant I (part-time) (6-month limited term)

Madera Community College (HEERF Funded, 6-month temporary positions):

  • Veterans Services Specialist
  • Senior Admissions & Records Assistant
  • Financial Aid Analyst
  • Network Administrator

Reedley College:

  • Accounting Technician (6-month limited term)

These positions reflect our collective vision to advance our mission and serve students.  The prioritization of hiring instructional faculty is an important part of our multipronged enrollment recovery strategy to advance student success, increase educational access and foster a more inclusive learning environment.

The conversations and work we engage in now will have a lasting impact on our college’s and district’s goals of serving our Valley by increasing student success and employability, improving a sense of belonging among students, faculty, staff, and administration, and ensuring effective, sustainable, and resilient communities for decades to come.

For those of you who will be involved in these searches, I thank you for your willingness to participate in processes that will bring the best talent into our classrooms and increase our capacity to serve our students.
