How to Pay for Study Abroad

EECU Student Grant Program

The 2024 EECU Student Grant Program! EECU’s Student Grant Programs provide grants to help members pay for school-related expenses. The programs are open to members who are pursuing a post-high school education at a community college, university/college, vocational/technical school, or advanced professional training in the U.S.

The call for applications will open in October 2023.

Golden 1 Credit Union Scholarships

Golden 1 Credit Union believes in investing in California’s future leaders, and they are proud to do their part to help them achieve their educational goals. Through the Golden 1 Credit Union scholarship program, they provide members and their dependents financial assistance, valued at up to $20,000 per student. Students receive awards based on academic achievement, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.

Recipients can receive:

  • Up to $1,000 annually to full-time students who plan to attend an accredited, nonprofit, two-year community college in California
  • Up to $5,000 annually to full-time students who plan to attend an accredited, nonprofit, four-year college or university in California

Applications will be accepted this fall for scholarships awarded for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship

The Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship honors the legacy of the abolitionist and statesman with a fully funded summer study abroad program focused on leadership, activism, and cross-cultural understanding. Fellows for this prestigious award will be selected based on their academic achievement, communication skills, commitment to social justice, and demonstrated service to others.

First-, second- or third-year students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 from ethnic backgrounds typically underrepresented on study abroad programs are invited to apply. As part of CIEE’s mission to increase access, all eligible students who submit a qualified application automatically earn a $1,500 scholarship toward any CIEE program.

In an effort to expand access to international experiences for community college students, CCID is offering student study abroad scholarships of $500 for participation in a global experience.
