Chancellor Goldsmith's Remarks - May 6, 2025

May 6, 2025

Good evening, Trustees, colleagues, and members of our community,

As we bring this academic year to a close, I want to take a moment to honor and celebrate a remarkable milestone, the achievements of the Class of 2025 across the State Center Community College District: Fresno City College, Reedley College, Clovis Community College, and our newest institution, Madera Community College.

The resilience, determination, and perseverance shown by our graduates are a powerful reminder of the transformative promise of education. Their journeys reflect the very best of what our colleges stand for…access, equity, and opportunity.

This year, we are poised to break records districtwide in the number of students earning Associate of Science, Associate of Arts, and Associate Degrees for Transfer. Both Reedley and Madera Community Colleges are on track to graduate the largest classes in their history.

Each of our colleges will host commencement ceremonies this May:
- Reedley College – Thursday, May 22 at 7:00 PM
- Fresno City College – Friday, May 23 at 6:30 PM
- Clovis Community College – Friday, May 23 at 6:00 PM
- Madera Community College – Friday, May 23 at 6:30 PM

These ceremonies are more than celebrations. They mark moments of growth, grit, and purpose. Behind every graduate is a story of determination and unwavering hope.

To our graduates: As you walk across that stage, know that you do so with the pride and admiration of an entire district. Your success is shared by the many who love you and have supported you.

We are grateful to all of our dedicated and talented faculty, classified professionals, and administrators who played a vital role in your journey. Our thanks to your families, friends and loved ones who stood beside you, thank you for being steadfast sources of support, encouragement, and love.

Graduates, we love you. We are incredibly proud of you.

We know you are ready for what comes next. Take the knowledge and experiences you’ve gained here and go forward with confidence, compassion, and courage.

The world needs your voice, your leadership, and your light.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025!
