Outlook (Mac)

apple-logo.png Instructions for setting up spam filtering in Microsoft Outlook on a Mac

Note: Outlook 2016 for Mac doesn’t provide any client-side junk mail protection for any kind of an account (Exchange, POP, or IMAP). Instead, it only relies on the mail server to perform all junk mail filtering. Recommendations is to use OUTLOOK for WEB in this case to do the desired settings (for Block and Safe List).

Below are the steps for the very basic settings you can do with Outlook 2016 for Mac: If you want to stop receiving email from someone, you can add his or her email address to your blocked senders list. Outlook automatically moves any new mail that you receive from this person to the Junk email folder. When you want to receive mail from this person again, you can remove his or her email address or domain from your blocked senders list.

  1. In Outlook, select a message from the sender whom you want to block.
  2. Go to Outlook menu bar select Message > Spam Email > Block Sender.
