Fulbright Scholars Program

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to “increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.”

With this goal as a starting point, the Fulbright Program has provided almost 300,000 participants—chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program competition for 2023-24 is open!

Visit the Catalog of Awards for details of over 400 awards offered across 130 countries.  The deadline to apply is September 15, 2023. Please note that U.S. citizenship is required.

Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) awards are two-week seminars designed to help U.S. international education professionals and senior higher education officials create empowering connections with their counterparts and higher education systems of other countries. Selected applicants have the opportunity to learn about the host country’s education system as well as establish networks of U.S. and international colleagues over the course of an intensive two-week grant duration.  Awardees return with enhanced ability to serve and encourage international students and prospective study-abroad students.

Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program (S-I-R) continues to seek institutions to host Fulbright Visiting Scholars. Express your interest in a survey! S-I-R is a unique Fulbright Scholar Program initiative that is specifically driven by the goals of U.S. institutions of higher education to enhance internationalization efforts on their campuses. Through the S-I-R Program, institutions host a scholar from outside of the United States for a semester or full academic year to teach courses, assist in curriculum development, guest lecture, develop study abroad/exchange partnerships and engage with the campus and the local community.
