Passing of Fresno City College Student

Mar 20, 2023

Dear Colleagues,

It is with a heavy heart that I share this tragic news. As you may have already seen from Dr. Pimentel’s message, or heard from a coworker, one of our students passed away on Friday

Late Friday afternoon I became aware of a possible missing student at Fresno City College.  Our State Center Police Department, as well as staff members from Fresno City College, assisted in the search.  Her body was found by the railroad tracks near the college.

Over the next few days and weeks, we will continue to provide support to the college.  I’ve been in conversations with President Pimentel, our State Center Police Chief, and local mental health professionals to marshal the needed resources to help our students, faculty, staff and administrators, cope with this tremendous loss. During this time, I ask you to join me in holding the family in your hearts, and prayers. I also ask you to reach out to your students and colleagues and let them know you care.

The loss of a student so suddenly and unexpectedly is profoundly upsetting, and our community mourns this life cut short. We express our deep condolences to her family and friends.  Please make time to take care of yourselves and to reach out and be present with each other.

Sincerely,

Dr. Carole Goldsmith
