Passing of Dr. Emory Luck

Oct 26, 2023

Good afternoon,

We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Fresno City College Athletic Director Dr. Emory Luck. An athlete throughout his life, he played football and basketball as a young man, and for nine years was a player, coach, and general manager for the Harlem Clowns (now known as the Harlem Globetrotters).

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in physical education, from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and achieved his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Champaign.

He came to Fresno City College in 1984, where he served as Athletic Director, P.E. Instructor, and Golf Coach. He also coached men's basketball for three years and was president of the Central Valley Conference. He retired from FCC in 2004.  Those who knew Emory, knew of his passion for golf, which he played for much of his life.

We thank Dr. Luck for his lifetime of service to young people, inspiring generations of youth to achieve their goals.

Plans are pending for a Celebration of Life.

Donations may be made to the FCC Student Emergency Fund or the Ram Pantry at Fresno City College, 1101 E. University Ave, Fresno 93741.

Regards,
