Coronavirus

Mar 6, 2020

The development of COVID-19, or Novel Coronavirus, that is spreading throughout the world is a concern we all share.  It is important for you to know that the District is monitoring this emerging matter.  We are maintaining contact with our local county health departments and are heeding the recommendations from the Center of Disease Control in order to maintain healthful and safe best practices for our campuses.  The immediate risk still remains low for the U.S. public at this time, and there are currently no reported confirmed cases in Fresno and surrounding counties.

With any virus, and especially during the flu season, there are many steps you can take to protect your health:

  • Stay at home if you become sick with respiratory symptoms such as fever and cough.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are ill.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze in your arms or with a tissue.  Be sure to throw it in the trash.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing Happy Birthday two times)
  • Contact your health provider if you are concerned about any flu-like symptoms you have.

To learn the most accurate information about the background on COVID-19 (Coronavirus), please view the CDC website for more information and recommendations.  You can also view the Fresno Department of Health website for more information.

This is a rapidly evolving situation and as we receive new updates and guidance that affect our District, we will be sure to inform you.  You may receive future updates and direction via email and/or by our emergency notification systems (1st2Know texting or telephone/loudspeakers).
